Michael Kevin Guymon alleges Carson County District Attorney Investigator Coy Teichelman stopped him on Interstate 40 on May 2, 2023 for a minor traffic violation, conducted a consensual vehicle search, found lawfully possessed currency but no drugs or other contraband, and then arrested him for money laundering without probable cause. The complaint alleges the canine used during the stop did not alert and that the arrest was part of a revenue-driven interdiction and forfeiture custom. Claims include wrongful arrest and seizure, malicious prosecution under federal and Texas law, and Monell liability against Carson County.
